How do we know it’s time to consider a senior living community?
Many of our residents would say it’s never too early to consider senior living, adding that they wish they had moved sooner. Here’s how you’ll know:
- When you are ready to let go of the hassles of home ownership or apartment maintenance.
- When a little assistance will help you experience a more enriched lifestyle.
- When you prefer to spend time with friends and enjoy deliciously prepared meals daily.
How do I obtain more information or arrange for a tour?

What does my monthly fee include?
In addition to the use and enjoyment of your selected residence, the monthly fee includes various services dependent on your level of care. Amenities are also included, such as complimentary meals, all utilities (except phone) including internet, cable TV, weekly housekeeping and linen service, an emergency call pendant, community activities, scheduled transportation services, interior/exterior maintenance, 24-hour staffing, plus access to a host of additional on-site amenities and community common spaces.
Is there a waiting list?
Yes, we have a waiting list in Assisted Living and Memory Care. We currently have availability in Independent Living; please call and speak to the Marketing Director or contact us online for more information regarding availability and how to get on a waitlist.
What Is a Continuing Care Retirement Community?
Atterdag Village is a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) offering Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing all on one campus. CCRC residents have access to the level of care most appropriate to their needs now and in the future. CCRC residents also receive care for life when they outlive their financial resources at no fault of their own.
What types of activities are available?
Atterdag Village provides a weekly activities calendar filled with events, classes, games, clubs, and more. Many of our residents enjoy off-site excursions, like attending a local event, exploring a museum, or going to the theater.
At Atterdag Village, our life enrichment teams work with residents to plan activities they truly enjoy. Residents also benefit from ever-changing activities featuring new events to look forward to each month.
How is the food?
Preparing healthy meals that are also satisfying is a top priority. At Atterdag Village, our staff provides a restaurant dining experience with various healthy and delicious menu options in a friendly and relaxing environment.
Can I bring my pet?
Atterdag Village is a pet-friendly community. To request additional information regarding our pet policy, please call our Marketing Director. You can also request additional information by submitting the Contact Us form on this website.
Can residents have cars?
We have resident parking throughout the village. If you plan to continue driving, you will receive a personalized parking space for your car. While many of our independent living residents still drive, they often find that once they move to Atterdag Village, they enjoy leaving the driving to us.
Are transportation services available at Atterdag Village?
Yes, transportation is available. Each week, we provide scheduled shopping trips through our Activities Department, and our professional transportation staff also provides transportation to local medical appointments. There is an additional charge if requesting transportation outside of the Santa Ynez Valley.
Do you provide laundry services?
Independent living residents are responsible for doing their laundry. Some apartments have a washer and dryer, and others have common washer and dryers with a schedule for use. We also provide laundry service once a week for an additional fee.
Does Atterdag Village offer guest rooms for out-of-town guests?
Yes, we do have a limited number of guest rooms available. If you are planning a visit, book your room early. Guests are also welcome to stay with a residence for up to a week.
What happens if a senior’s health needs change, and more care is necessary?
Atterdag Village offers a continuum of care, including Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing, all on one campus. Residents have access to the level of care most appropriate to their needs now and in the future. If care needs change, residents can transition to the proper care setting within our community.
Are senior living expenses potentially tax deductible?
Some expenses associated with assisted living may be tax deductible. Be sure to consult with your tax advisor to determine eligibility.
What will my long-term care insurance pay for?
Some long-term care insurance policies cover assisted living and long-term care. Policies vary, so please consult your insurance company’s benefits administrator to determine what your particular policy covers.
