How do I get started with the Atterdag at Home Meals on Wheels service?
It is very easy to get started. Call Karen Brown, Director of Atterdag at Home, Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, and she will guide you through the process. You can also sign up for meals and services on our website. (805) 350-8478 or PeopleWhoCare.com

How much are the meals?
The standard meal costs $7.00 and includes:

• A hot entrée
• Two side dishes
• A salad of the day
• Dessert
• A beverage (milk, cranberry juice, or apple juice)
• A roll with margarine

Atterdag at Home Meals on Wheels provides a subsidy on a sliding scale and will work with clients to offer meals at a lower cost.

Where does Atterdag at Home Meals on Wheels deliver?
We deliver throughout the Santa Ynez Valley, including Solvang, Santa Ynez, Ballard, and Los Olivo.

What time are the meals delivered?
Your meal will be delivered by a dedicated volunteer Monday through Friday between 10:45 am and 1:30 pm.

How do I pay?
The bill is sent out at the beginning of the month following meals received. We only accept checks. Many seniors will set up automatic payments with their bank.

Do you offer meals for special diets?
Yes, we offer a low-sodium diet and a low-sugar diet. Friday is typically a fish day. If you do not like fish, we can substitute it with chicken breast.

How do I accept your delivery?
You are welcome to put a delivery bag out or ask when you sign up if the volunteer can bring your meal inside because you cannot come to the door for the delivery. Delivery bags are available upon request.

Do I have to receive a meal daily, or can I choose the meals I like?
We prefer that new clients receive meals daily for the first two weeks. Subsequently, you can choose the days you would like to receive meals. It would be helpful if you chose the same days every week.

If I have an appointment, how would I receive my meal?
Leave your cooler bag out with an ice pack. Or, if you are gone all day, you can cancel your meal.

How do I cancel a meal?
If you need to cancel your meal, notify Karen Brown before 2:00 pm the previous day. If you have a scheduled appointment, please notify us as soon as possible. If you need to cancel for Monday, please cancel on the previous Friday. Our office is closed on the weekend.
